Müslüman Dünyada Geleneksel Halı ve Kilimler: Geçmişte, Günümüzde ve Gelecekteki İmkânlar, Uluslararası Kurumu (Cidde) ve Uluslararası Elsanatlarını Geliştirme Merkezi’nin desteğiyle düzenlenen “Müslüman Dünyada Geleneksel Halı ve Kilimler: Pazar, Tasarım, Kalite ve Uygulanan Tekniklerdeki Sürekli Değişimler Karşısında Bu Mirasın Geliştirilmesinde Geçmişte, Günümüzde ve Gelecekteki İmkânlar” konulu uluslararası seminerin sonucunda ortaya çıkmıştır. Seminer 19-25 Kasım 1999 tarihlerinde Tunus’ta düzenlenmiş, 38 ülke ve uluslararası kuruluşlardan uzmanlar tarafından 70 bildiri sunulmuştur. Seminere zengin bir halı ve kilim sergisi eşlik etmiştir.
